In Depth Teachings:
Evidence Based Studies & The Ancient Texts with Sam Chase: An extensive unveiling of evidence based studies that support and verify yogic principles such as karma and samsara, written about in ancient yogic texts.
Advanced Asana & Bandhas with Sam Chase & Megan Brown: An enlightening investigation of gross and subtle anatomy and the lenses and layers through which you can view "advanced asana," as well as an opportunity to practice and apply unique models and teaching techniques.
Neuroplasticity & Special Populations with Megan Brown & Sara VanderGoot: Detailed lectures on neuroanatomy, neuroplasticity, and special conditions as well as practical, hands on knowledge about and experience working with prenatal, post pregnancy, trauma sensitive, depressed and/or anxious, injured, terminally ill or neurologically challenged students. This module will include yin, trauma sensitive and restorative yoga training. (if you are present at for special populations on the weekend of February 22, 23, 24 you may apply 17 hour towards your Mind the Mat 85 Hour Prenatal Teacher Training Program and will receive a discount on that program of $350.00).
Yoga & Ayurveda with Sara VanderGoot: An in depth investigation of the gunas and doshas and teachings on how to instruct yoga using variations of asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques to balance the doshas based on seasons, times of day, and needs of students.
Advanced Pranayama & Meditation with Jafar Alexander: A powerful step by step methodology for practicing and teaching pranayama & meditation techniques that potentiate profound transformation.
Buddhist Meditation Practice with Jonathan Foust: An opportunity to explore the similarities and differences between buddhist, yogic, and mindfulness meditation practices as well as to develop your own personal meditation practice within a like-minded and supportive community.
Mindfulness & Stress Resilience with Gina White: We are part of the evolution of yoga and its manifestation in the western world. This module marries yoga, positive psychology, philosophy and practical application and teaching skills with insight on how modern mindfulness practices can change the lives of everyday heroes and help us and our students to cultivate a sense of lasting wellbeing.
Tools for Transformation with Michael Peterson: An opportunity to experience the transformational power of sacred space and be held by your spiritual community (sangha) as you delve into practices that will uncover the raw force of your authentic voice and empower you to express and share your unique version of yoga with others.

Step 3. We will contact you to schedule an interview. If, through our conversation, both parties agree that the advanced yoga teacher training would serve you at this time, you will be accepted into the program and officially notified via email.
A 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate from a Yoga Alliance Registered School
A consistent yoga practice (2-3 times weekly) and an open, curious mind
A completed application and an in person or phone interview with Sara VanderGoot, 300 Hour Advanced YTT Director
Note: It is NOT required that you are or become a yoga teacher after training. Many students take this course for their own personal development.
Be physically present at all our meeting times.
Attend at least 4 yoga classes monthly and write a review
Attend Monday evening meditation with Jonathan Foust at Arlington Unitarian Church once monthly and write a review
Program Benefits – Practical & Personal:
You will have access to 6 months of unlimited FREE yoga classes. Our location in Alexandria, Virginia has three studios, one of which is a state of the art hot yoga studio. This benefit also includes classes at our second studio location, in Clarendon, Arlington, Virginia. Pilates and Barre classes are not included but we encourage you to observe these classes upon request.
You’ll receive a 15% discount on class packages during the year following your graduation from the program.
During the program, you will receive discounts on Territory prepared foods offered at our Alexandria and Arlington studios.

Tuition & Payment Schedule:
$4,650 Full Tuition Fee. Cost includes unlimited yoga classes during program (workshops, series, barre and Pilates classes not included), 15% discount on class packages during the year following the program, discounts on Territory prepared foods offered at our studio.
$4,400 Early Bird Special (if registration occurs and full payment is postmarked by December 31, 2018).
$250 Deposit. This is required to hold your spot when registering. Please note that the deposit will be lost if you decide not to commit to the program. This deposit will be subtracted from your tuition cost when tuition is paid for in full.
Full tuition payment required by start of program.

If you drop out of the program before the start, security deposit is not refunded. Once the program has started tuition is non-refundable.

A $250 deposit is required to hold your space in the program. If, during your interview, Mind the Mat determines that Advanced Yoga Teacher Training is not appropriate for you right now, you will receive a full refund of the deposit. If you decide not to participate in this program before the first day of class, all tuition will be refunded, minus the $250 deposit. No refunds will be made after the start of the program.
