CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
PILATES
Pilates Mat I:
Our beginner mat class introduces you to the principles of Pilates while
strengthening and stretching your entire body, decompressing your spine and
improving posture. You will learn to use your deep abdominal and
spinal muscles and how to modify the moves to a level appropriate for
you. Individual attention is provided to make brand-new beginners feel at
ease.
Pilates Mat
I/II: The same Pilates
principles are delivered at a more rigorous pace and with more challenging
moves. Some Pilates experience is
required for this class.
Restorative
Pilates: This fundamentals class is not only
perfect for beginners but also imperative for those recovering from an injury
or living with a chronic condition.
Taught by a Doctor of Physical Therapy, this class focuses on proper
alignment and muscular recruitment in order to heal and strengthen the whole
body-- safely.
Pilates Yoga
Fusion: The best of both Pilates and yoga will
leave you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, and more focused. You will truly find that these two are
kindred spirits!
Pilates
Fitness Fusion: A mix of classical Pilates and general
fitness makes this class suitable for all levels. Not recommended for people with injuries.

YOGA
Yoga Flow
(Saturday with Ed): Class focuses on basis yoga poses using
props in accordance with the methodology of B.K.S.
Iyengar. Instructor will aid with proper alignment in poses.
Class incorporates Pranayama breathing techniques. It is intended for
those who have no prior yoga experience as well as students who have prior
experience but would like to concentrate on the alignment principles of
basic yoga poses.
Yoga I/II
(Monday with Debora): Yoga is fun! This class is a potent
blend of many styles of Yoga designed to strengthen the body and calm the mind.
Class includes Pranayama, Asanas and deep relaxation. Variations will be
given for beginner and intermediate students.
Yoga I/II
(Wednesday with Caroline): In this level I/II vinyasa-style class,
you'll flow at a slower pace with an emphasis on alignment and breath. This
class is designed for students who are newer to the practice and ready to
explore yoga in a safe environment.
Yoga I/II
(Friday with Ed): This class will combine fast paced,
yoga vinyasas as well as holding basic and intermediate poses for a longer
time than in Yoga I. Proper
alignment will be a priority. Some knowledge of yoga and basic poses
is helpful.
Yoga II
(Tuesday with Heather): Awaken the mind, body and spirit with
"Yoga 2Ó. Practice postures that will invigorate the body and sharpen
the mind. This vinyasa style class will emphasis building endurance,
strength, and flexibility through the incorporation sun salutations, inversions
and backbends, as well as standing and balancing poses. Suitable for
intermediate yogis and yoginis.
Yoga III
(Saturday with Irene): Advanced level asanas and
inversions. Pranayama, energy flow and relaxation integrated into
75-minute class. Important to have an understanding of proper body
alignment and awareness.
Power Vinyasa
Express: Begin your day
with an invigorating hour of yoga.
In this vinyasa-style class, you'll focus on core strength, balance and
breath. Learn to safely flow deeper into the poses you know or gracefully learn
new ones. We'll begin and end class promptly so you can leave the studio
feeling centered, relaxed and ready to have a fantastic day.
Power Yoga
(Wednesday with Caroline): Build core strength, flexibility,
concentration and a sense of serenity in this well-balanced practice. Worries
of the day will disappear as your breath moves you from pose to pose. While
challenging, this class is open to all levels and offers modifications to make
it accessible to a range of students.
Kundalini Yoga:
Kundalini Yoga uses movement, sound current, breath and meditation to
relax and heal your mind and body. Just one class is a powerful and effective
way to recharge and heal your body by stimulating the nervous and immune
systems. Kundalini yoga promotes strength and flexibility while it centers the
mind and opens the spirit. Best of all, everyone can do it. You do not need to be an experienced
Yogi to participate!
Couples Thai
Yoga Massage: This class is for people in pairs. It is very interactive and for people at
all skill levels. Techniques are
based on traditional Thai yoga positions.
Partners facilitate one another in stretching, breathing and massaging
to open and create flexibility in the body in ways individuals cannot do on
their own. ItŐs a lot of fun and a
great way to relax into a Saturday evening.
KidŐs Yoga
(3-5 years and 6-8 years): KidŐs Yoga supports your childŐs good
health, radiance and happiness. Classes follow a flexible structure based on
the age, interest, and ability of the child. In these classes, children are given the tools for building
self-confidence, inner awareness, well-coordinated bodies, and focused minds
through strengthening their mind/body/spirit connection. These classes are for every child,
whether or not they have ever done yoga before.
Belly Dance
Yoga: Shake Your Asana! Awaken the inner Goddess and get fit in
a supportive environment. Raqs Sharqui/Oriental Bell Dance is a centuries old
woman centered dance from the Middle East. Developed by women specifically for
women's bodies it strengthens and tones the core muscles, improves posture,
flexibility and grace. You will learn to find the beat and bring the moves
together with music while working the whole body. Classes start with a yoga
warm up and conditioning and turns into a dance party with funky world music!
No experience or coordination required.
Hoop Dance
Yoga: Hoop Dance is the renovated return of
Hula Hooping. Not just for kids,
this fun, low impact fitness art borrows from yoga, Pilates and tai chi. It is
excellent exercise for those pressed for time and those who tend to get bored
with traditional workouts.
DANCE & FITNESS
Calisthenics:
This class is Cardio Cosmo!
Get your mojo on with this fun off the mat exercise routine of low
impact movement guaranteed to make your heart beat. Aerobic shoes required.
Happy Hour:
ItŐs Friday. Give yourself
some R&R. Take a deep breath to refresh your mind and body. This class is one full hour of slow
movement and stretching.
Zumba:
Have fun, raise your heart rate, burn fat...and dance! This dance inspired cardio class is for
students at all levels. It
features the latest in Salsa, Cumbia, Samba, Merengue, Cha-Cha, Reggaeton and
more! The easy to follow routines
feature a combination of fast and slow rhythms that maximize fat burning and
total body toning.
KidsŐ Creative
Dance and Movement (5-8 years):
Children love dancing
whenever they hear music. In this
class the children will hear a diverse variety of music from around the world,
from classical to salsa, to African music. The instructor will incorporate relaxation, visualization,
stretching, and creative dance and movement.
BABIES & MAMAS
Mommy & Me
Yoga: A class for moms and babies (at least 6
weeks old until crawling). This class is designed to help new moms regain
strength and energy that may have been lost during pregnancy. Class also
focuses on bonding with your baby and learning exercises and massage for your
baby. A wonderful experience for moms and babies.
Mommy & Me
Pilates: Bring the baby and get back into shape
safely with Pilates mat exercises.
You must have clearance from your doctor or be at least 6-8 weeks
postpartum. Come bond with baby and
other moms! This class is taught
by a Doctor of Physical Therapy (who is also a mom!). For babies 6 weeks-crawling.
Prenatal Yoga:
A class designed for moms-to-be. Yoga is a perfect way stay fit
and relaxed during pregnancy, and increase energy and vitality. You will learn
how to breathe more fully, and prepare your body and mind for childbirth.
