  • Yes, classes must be reserved in advance. Walk-ins are not permitted.

    Please manage your schedule online or download the MindBody Connect App.

    Remember we require 12 hours notice for all late cancellations and please remember to double-check the location, we have three locations (Del Ray, Virginia Square, Lyon Park).

  • The wait-list truly works. Before the 12 hour cancel window, you will automatically be enrolled off of the waitlist if someone cancels, . You will receive an automatic email, so please make sure you check your email often just in case. If you do not receive a wait-list email, but are signed up for notifications, please check your junk/trash or promotions tab.

    You can also log into your Mind Body account and check to see if you have been admitted into class. If you are wait-listed but not yet admitted to the class via our online system, that means you have expressed interest in attending the class. There is a chance you will be admitted, but only if a registered client late cancels. We ask that you do not show up for class unless you are taken off the wait-list, but you should be prepared to be taken off the wait-list and to attend class up to an hour before class start time. If you change your mind about coming to class at any point, please remove yourself from the waitlist.

    If you decide to register for a different class, please remove yourself from the wait-list. If you no longer feel you can make it to class, please remove your name from the wait-list. Late or no show fees may apply if you late-cancel, are registered for a class and do not show, or are taken off the wait-list and enrolled into the class, but do not show.

  • No, we do not have showers.. We do offer lockers in Del Ray and Lyon Park (coming soon) and dressing rooms/bathrooms.

  • We no longer offer loaner mats, so please bring your own mat and water. Blocks, blankets, bolsters and straps provided at studio.

  • Please arrive at least 5 minutes but no more than 15 early to check in, get settled and zen-out. Many of our classes fill and have wait-lists. If you do not arrive on time your spot may be given to a wait-listed client. If you late cancel (we require at least 12 hours notice) or do not show for your pre-registered class, you will be assessed an automatic $10 fee if you are a member. If you have a class package, that session will be considered "used" if you do not show for your class.

  • Mind the Mat offers free parking at our Lyon Park location in Arlington. In At our Virginia Square, Arlington location there is limited free street parking and paid street parking. At our Del Ray, Alexandria location there is free street parking and five Mind the Mat parking spots behind the studio


    At the Virginia Square location, there is a metered lot on Fairfax Drive between 10th street and Washington Blvd. There is also free parking in the neighborhoods along N Jackson St and N Kenmore St.

  • If you are brand new, it is always good to start with a Pilates Mat 1 or a Beginner/Gentle yoga to ease into the practice. Mind the Mat is a unique studio. Each teacher and each class is different so that your body and mind experience a variety of expert disciplines. Please read each class description before signing up for class. Some classes like Pilates Boot Camp require shoes and other items. Feel free to email us at info@mindthemat.com with any questions.

  • The On-Demand library is an online collection of pre-recorded classes that is available to clients enrolled in the Deluxe Unlimited Membership plan.

  • Live Classes are only available as part of the Deluxe Monthly Membership package. It enables members to participate in live MTM classes that are streamed online.

  • The FitClinic App is an subscription-based online tool that offers specialized series focused on mobility, therapeutics, fundamentals, pre-natal, and post-pregnancy.

    It can be used as a tool to supplement your Mind the Mat workouts, but is not included with any of the monthly memberships.

  • Deluxe Monthly Membership: Cancel anytime online (web browser only) in your Mind Body Online account under the My Info tab: Account.

    Monthly Membership Lite: Cancel anytime online (web browser only) in your Mind Body Online account under the My Info tab: Account.

    Virtual ONLY Monthly Membership: Cancel anytime by emailing info@mindthemat.com.

 Hot Studio FAQs

Alexandria’s hot studio has a perfect blend of heat and humidity. Arlington’s hot studio offers the extra benefits of infrared heat.

  • Our heated classes include HAWT Pilates, hot flow yoga, hot power yoga, and hot deep stretch.

  • Class by reservation only, no walk-ins permitted. Please honor our cancellation policy of 4 hours before class. You will be charged that class or assessed an automatic late cancel fee of $10 if you are a member.

  • Fill your water bottle, set up your space, and get yourself set. Arriving late disrupts the class and you may not be admitted if spaces fill.

  • Mind the Mat does not provide any mats, buts straps and blocks are available at the studios for use. Please disinfect any props used before and after class.
