If you are a yoga instructor who is passionate about working in specialized ways with women during their childbearing years, you will fall in love with this 85 Hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training certification approved by Yoga Alliance.
This training is also open to aspiring yoga instructors, birth assistants, doulas, midwives, nurses, doctors, and mamas who are motivated to learn how yoga empowers women to listen to their bodies, respect their innate wisdom, and make informed decisions during pregnancy, labor, delivery and after birth.
Birthing is one of the most powerful and transformational experiences a woman can have. Physical and emotional support and preparation is necessary for a woman to approach birthing from a place of strength and positivity. Yoga is a unique, functional and effective tool to incorporate throughout the journey. This program will teach you how to support pregnant women who come to your non-specialty flow classes with appropriate modifications, however the focus will be on creating intelligent, safe, and joyful sequences that address the specific needs of mamas during all stages of pregnancy and after baby.
In this program you will learn as much about yourself as you will about how to use yoga as a tool to support women through pregnancy and afterwards. You will gain knowledge about ancient and modern birthing and post-pregnancy practices that will allow you to consciously form your own beliefs about birth and beyond. This training will provide you the opportunity to connect and share with other women and experience a deep sense of nurture and community.Your training leaders:

200-Hour certified instructors are paired with an experienced mentor for guidance, coaching, and development around elements of personal practice and teaching yoga.
To inquire, please contact our Director of Training & Development: MtMTeacherTraining@gmail.com.

Mind the Mat’s signature Apprenticeship Program is an optional, but highly encouraged, next step after the completion of a 200-hour program. This program is open to graduates of the Mind the Mat’s 200-hour yoga teacher training program as well as those from other Yoga Alliance Accredited 200-hour yoga teacher training programs.
Apprenticeship supports newer yoga teacher training graduates to segue seamlessly from training to teaching classes in a studio environment if that is your goal. Approximately half of our YTT graduates complete the apprenticeship, especially if they wish to gain additional experience with special populations or to accumulate teaching hours in a studio environment (a necessary step to auditioning for instructor positions).
Apprenticeship Program Steps:
1) Meet with your mentor to go over your goals, questions, scheduling, etc. These meetings will also occur periodically to support you throughout the program and can be scheduled at your convenience in collaboration with your mentor. The content of these meetings will be tailored to the apprentice’s goals and needs.
Topics may include guidance around personal practice, teaching methodology, developing confidence and personal teaching style, cuing, sequencing, practicing hands-on assists, diversifying a skill set (ie: teaching a specialized series or population), etc.
2) Observation Hours: in your mentor’s classes and/or additional teachers or specialties, followed by digestion/reflection/Q&A with your mentor. Goal: 10 classes minimum.
3) Assisting Hours: Apprentices offer hands-on assistance in your mentor’s classes with guidance and coaching. Also includes classroom/studio set-up and clean-up, assisting to check-in clients and other relevant studio operations. Goal: 5 classes minimum.
4) Co-Teaching Hours: Apprentices co-develop and then teach a short portion of their mentor’s class. The mentor will provide coaching and feedback before, during and after these co-teaches. Goal: 3-5 classes total.
5) Teaching Community Classes: Following completion of the above steps, the mentor will support the apprentice in developing a class description, their teaching bio, and collaborate with the MtM administrative team to schedule and advertise free community classes to be taught by the mentor at one of our 3 studio locations. The mentor will offer feedback and coaching and will attend at least one of the apprentice’s community classes, possibly more as schedules allow. Goal: 3-5 classes total.
The community classes portion of the Apprenticeship Program can serve as an audition for those who have goals to teach or sub at Mind the Mat.
Scheduling and Timing: The program can start anytime throughout the year. Most apprentices complete this program in approximately 6 months; however, we fully acknowledge each person's journey is unique. We will work with you on a timeline that fits your schedule. The steps of the program are completed based on your schedule and your mentor’s schedule.
Mentor pairings: Apprenticeship Participants may choose to work with an experienced instructor on our team that resonates with their own personal practice and teaching style or would be a good fit to help develop a specific skill set. With a dedicated team of expert instructors on the Mind the Mat team, we have a wide range of mentors and specialties to choose from.
Our Director of Training & Development will also assist in pairing you with a mentor that is a best-fit for your goals, interest, style and availability.
